Classical Summer School

The Classical Summer School is a five-week residential programme in Rome that provides participants with a grounded understanding of the growth and development of the city of Rome through study of material remains and literary sources. It combines site visits across Etruria, the Bay of Naples, and Rome with textual and topographical study. The programme is aimed at qualified graduate students and school and university teachers and includes lectures, guided excursions, and research-oriented activities.

Tuition, accommodation during the programme, lunches on excursion days and some dinners, and costs of sites and transportation included in the programme fee; eligibility for Academy scholarships (minimum $1,500) and other larger scholarships.

Qualified graduate students, and middle school, high school, and college/university teachers; undergraduate and MA candidates may apply (undergraduate and MA applicants must submit academic transcripts).

Complete the online application form and submit a personal statement (up to 500 words), CV, two letters of recommendation, and academic transcripts for undergraduate and MA applicants; letters must be received by the application deadline.
