Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) Bay Area

SURF Bay Area is an eight-week in-person summer research program at Stanford Engineering that brings 15 undergraduate students to conduct research in Stanford Engineering labs and participate in graduate school preparation activities. Participants engage in mentorship, community-building events, and a final research symposium. The program includes weekly cohort meals, health insurance coverage if needed, and Stanford summer registration costs. Fellows receive a stipend upon successful completion of the program.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and be currently enrolled full-time non-Stanford undergraduate students at an accredited college or university located in the United States; rising juniors or non-graduating seniors who have completed sophomore year are eligible. Full-time community college students in their transfer year are eligible contingent on transfer plans; international applicants are not eligible for 2026.
