The Fate Foundation AI Upskilling Programme for African Higher Educational Institutions

The Fate Foundation AI Upskilling Programme is a multi-country initiative led by FATE Foundation in collaboration with the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) and supported by Google.org. It aims to build sustainable AI education capacity within African higher education institutions in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa, by upskilling lecturers, teaching assistants, and penultimate/final-year STEM students with access to a localized AI curriculum derived from the Google DeepMind AI Research Foundation’s materials. The program seeks to enhance institutional capacity and visibility through showcases and the development of AI-powered solutions addressing real-life problems.

Access to a localized AI curriculum; advanced AI training for STEM lecturers and teaching assistants; guidance on developing AI-powered solutions; opportunities for recognition and visibility within the continental AI ecosystem.

Accredited higher education institutions in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, or South Africa; participation by lecturers, teaching assistants, and penultimate/final-year STEM students; institutions must be ready to participate actively and commit to curriculum integration.
