John G. Bene Fellowship 2024 for Researchers

The John G. Bene Fellowship supports Canadian master’s or doctoral students to conduct field research on the relationship between forest resources and social, economic, cultural and environmental welfare in developing countries, with a focus on resilience and social justice. The fellowship is awarded to a small number of recipients to enable research that benefits less privileged communities, including women and Indigenous peoples.

Funding to support a master’s or doctoral research project conducted in developing countries, with emphasis on social justice and resilience for forest-dependent communities.

Applicants must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and be enrolled at a Canadian university at the master's or doctoral level with a research proposal approved by their thesis supervisor, conducted in one or more developing countries.
