About this opportunity

The Mawazo Institute Fellowship Program is a non-residential fellowship for African women pursuing PhD studies at accredited universities in Africa. It aims to build a network of African women experts who can influence policy and public discourse, supporting their research relevant to Africa’s development. In 2025, up to forty Mawazo Fellows will be supported across Africa with additional training, mentorship, and research funding opportunities.

Benefits & funding

Participation in in-house virtual training and mentorship; funding for research activities; a $500 stipend; data bundles; research and editorial support; visibility through Mawazo's programs.

Eligibility

Applicants must identify as women, be nationals of an African country, be enrolled for their PhD at an accredited African university, and demonstrate potential for leadership and relevance of their research to African development.
