We collect as little personal data as possible and use it only to provide and personalise this service. This page explains what we store, why, and your rights.
Account & newsletter: your email address and — only if you choose to provide them — name, country, date of birth, study level, subject interests and language preference. Submissions & stories: the content you send us plus your contact details. Technical: server logs (IP address, browser, requested page) kept briefly for security and debugging.
To personalise the front page we derive an approximate country from your IP address. We store only a one-way hash of the IP with the country code — the address itself is not kept — and you can override the country manually at any time.
To operate your account, send the newsletters you asked for, personalise which opportunities you see first, review submissions, and keep aggregate statistics (counts per day, never individual browsing profiles). We do not sell or share personal data with advertisers.
Transactional and newsletter emails are delivered through our email service provider (SendGrid). Every newsletter contains a one-click unsubscribe link. Double opt-in: you only receive the newsletter after confirming via the link we email you.
We use a session cookie (sign-in), a language cookie and — if you set it — a country override cookie. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts; the world map loads tiles from OpenStreetMap; cover photos are sourced from Pexels. These services may see your IP address when your browser requests their resources.
You can access, correct or delete your data at any time: profile data directly in your account, everything else by emailing us. Deleting your account removes your profile, saved list and newsletter subscription.
