Applied Geosciences – Field-Based Geosciences (FBG) (MSc)

The Master of Science programme Applied Geosciences offers a Field-Based Geosciences stream (FBG) at RWTH Aachen University. The programme is taught in English and includes an immersive, practice-oriented curriculum with a focus on fieldwork. A key feature is an extended field camp that develops hands-on mapping, analysis and field documentation skills, alongside coursework in modern techniques such as drone-based surveying, satellite remote sensing and digital mapping.

The programme provides an immersive field-based geoscience training, with an extended field camp and integration of modern techniques (drone surveying, remote sensing, digital mapping), plus opportunities for study abroad and internships as part of the curriculum.

Bachelor of Science or Engineering with at least 180 ECTS in geosciences, including specific minimum credits in natural sciences and geosciences as required by RWTH Aachen.
