The Tom Hanson Photojournalism Award 2026 is administered by The Canadian Journalism Foundation and offers a six-week paid internship at The Canadian Press head office in Toronto for a photojournalist in the early stages of their career. Eligibility
Applicants will be accepted from Canadian photojournalists with less than five years experience. This can include students, freelance photographers or photographers currently employed at regional or non-daily publications. The successful applicant must be willing to work at the head office of The Canadian Press in Toronto during the internship. Successful applicants must have their own basic camera gear; long lenses and video cameras will be supplied when necessary.
Application
Submit a detailed proposal (up to 1,000 words) on how the internship would expand your photojournalism; submit a portfolio of 12–25 photos (with captions); optional multimedia submission; include resume and optionally a letter of recommendation.
