Doctoral Programme in Governance

The Hertie School offers a structured Doctoral Programme in Governance to conduct doctoral research in the social sciences in an international and multidisciplinary setting. PhD researchers receive rigorous training, close supervision, and professional development support to prepare for academic and research careers. The programme collaborates with European partners and provides opportunities for research stays, workshops, and dedicated training in data science and methods.

Monthly scholarship stipend, health insurance contribution, potential for external funding or research position, structured doctoral training and supervision.

Candidates with an exceptionally strong Master's degree (or equivalent) in related fields, completed before enrolment, are invited to apply; international candidates are encouraged.
