The Claude Ake Visiting Chair is a co-financed collaboration between the Nordic Africa Institute and the Department of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University. It invites senior social scientists from African universities who focus on social justice and topics such as war, peace, conflict resolution, human rights, democracy and development. The holder will pursue their own research for three months in Uppsala and receive a stipend plus travel and accommodation grants, along with access to an international research network.

Eligibility
Applicants should be internationally recognised senior scholars with professorial competence (professor or associate professor) in their field. The Chair holder is expected to spend three months in Uppsala in 2026.

Submit CV, abstract of the research project, a research proposal (3–5 pages), two publications, a signed recommendation letter, and a letter of institutional support.
