Funded EU Delegations Traineeships 2026: Application Guide, Eligibility, Funding & Locations

The European Union offers structured traineeship opportunities in its Delegations worldwide, providing students and young graduates with hands-on exposure to EU external relations, diplomacy, development cooperation, and strategic communications. The Traineeships are educational placements with no employment relationship, designed to build a pipeline of future professionals familiar with EU values and international engagement. There are four pillars of traineeships, including a funded track for young graduates with financial support provided by the EEAS.

Financial grant; professional exposure in EU delegations; potential pathway to future careers within EU institutions; hands-on experience in diplomacy and external action.

Funded traineeships are for graduates with less than one year of professional experience. Eligibility depends on the pillar and nationality rules set by the host delegation.

Applications are managed locally by each EU Delegation; calls are published as Calls for Expression of Interest.
