British Academic International Fellowships 2026

The British Academic International Fellowships 2026 offer funded research opportunities in the United Kingdom for early-career researchers who have completed their PhD or are in the final stages of their degree. The program is hosted by the British Academy and the Royal Society, with funding provided by the Department for Science, Innovation & Technology. Selected fellows work for two years at participating UK research institutions and receive salary support, a research allowance, relocation assistance, and other benefits.

Salary to cover living expenses, research allowance, relocation support, health and visa assistance, and networking/alumni funding opportunities.

Open to applicants from all nationalities (excluding UK nationals) who have completed a PhD or are in the final stages of their degree, with a background in humanities, social sciences, or related fields and no more than five years of postdoctoral experience.

Identify a host institute in the UK, submit an Expression of Interest, obtain departmental approval, then apply through the British Academy system.
