African Human Rights Spoken Word Contest 2025

The African Human Rights Spoken Word Contest is a platform for poets, artists, and activists to express perspectives on human rights issues through a one-minute spoken-word video. Winners will be showcased at the International Human Rights Art Festival in New York City in December 2025, with various certificates awarded to entrants. Prizes are awarded to the top entries and there are honorable mentions for others.

Cash prizes for top winners, certificates of participation for all entrants, certificates of excellence for shortlisted entrants, and performance at the International Human Rights Art Festival.

Entries are welcomed from anywhere in the world, but must address human rights issues in Africa.

Submit a 1-minute video recitation of an original poem (minimum size specified) addressing African human rights themes; email the video to the provided addresses.
