Information

The A Sea of Words Essay Contest invites young authors from Euro-Med countries to write an original story up to 2,500 words exploring the theme The Mediterranean We Imagine: A Space for Young Mediterranean Storytellers to Envision and Build the Future. The top 10 authors will be invited to Barcelona in late September 2025, their stories will be published, and they will have opportunities to engage with writers from across the Mediterranean.

Benefits

Prize includes an invitation to Barcelona and publication of the winning stories; participants will have opportunities to connect with writers from across the Mediterranean.

Eligibility

Young people between 18 and 30 years old, citizens or nationals of one of the 43 countries of the Euro-Mediterranean area. Only one story per author; prior selection disqualifies repeat entrants.

Application

Submit the original story in Word format to concurso@iemed.org, including the title and the author’s personal data.
