The African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) PhD Thesis Fellowship provides support for doctoral thesis research for African PhD students enrolled in economics programmes at institutions in Africa or abroad. The programme targets students whose thesis proposal focuses on human capital development in Africa and may be country- or region-specific in its research focus.

Open to African students admitted to a CPP doctoral programme in economics (or related fields) at listed partner institutions; applicants should have a Master’s degree with coursework and thesis in economics or related disciplines and may have at least one relevant publication as an advantage.

Applicants must apply via the host universities’ CPP admission processes and then upload required documents to the AERC Fellowship portal
