Information

The World Bank Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program offers eight-month fellowships for developing country nationals to conduct PhD research in development-related fields in a World Bank member country other than the fellow’s home country or country of residence. Selected fellows are hosted at the World Bank in Washington, D.C., work under DEC researchers, and engage in policy-relevant research; fellows return to their home country or university after the fellowship. The program provides a competitive compensation of $46,500 (net) for the eight-month period, with visa assistance provided by the World Bank.

Eligibility

Applicants must be nationals of World Bank member countries (preference for developing countries), graduates of a master’s program or currently pursuing a PhD in Economics or a related field, under 35 years of age by a specified date, fluent in English, and able to relocate to Washington, D.C. for the duration of the fellowship.
