Investintech - CAJ Data Journalism Scholarship

The Investintech - CAJ Data Journalism Scholarship is awarded to students studying at a Canadian college or university who demonstrate skills and interest in data journalism. The scholarship supports students pursuing a diploma, undergraduate or graduate degree and aims to help cover education costs while preparing recipients for careers in data journalism. The award includes a monetary prize and additional professional membership and conference access.

$1,000 CAD; one free one-year membership with the Canadian Association of Journalists; one free pass to the annual CAJ national conference.

Applicants must be currently accepted to or enrolled in a college or university in Canada and pursuing a course of studies leading to a diploma, undergraduate or graduate degree. Applicants must show interest and ability in data journalism (e.g. published news story, work for a college publication) and previous winners are not eligible.

Submit an example of journalism work demonstrating data skills (must include at least one data visualization) and an explanation of methods and resources used; if work was part of a group, explain individual contribution. Work must have been produced within one calendar year of the scholarship closing date. A single individual submission is preferred.
