African Planet Prize 2025 — Nominations

Nominations are open for the African Planet Prize 2025, recognizing transformative scientific contributions addressing planetary health. The award includes career development support, ceremony invitation, global exposure, and mentorship.

USD $5,000 in career development support; invitation to the ceremony; global exposure; mentorship network.

Lead applicant must be an African early-career researcher (≤7 years post-PhD, with possible marginal extensions for career breaks). Must have at least one peer-reviewed publication in a high-impact journal directly relevant to planetary boundaries and sustainability challenges. The African researcher must be affiliated to an African institution implementing any of the planetary boundaries. Nomination must be supported by an institutional domicile in Africa (university, research institution or equivalent).
