Monash Graduate Scholarship (MGS)

The Monash Graduate Scholarship (MGS) is a competitive research scholarship offered by Monash University to support students undertaking higher-degree research (Research Doctorate or Research Master’s). The scholarship provides a living stipend and may include relocation allowances; international students may be considered for a separate tuition scholarship to cover fees and Overseas Student Health Cover. The scholarship is awarded on a competitive basis and is intended for sustained independent research under academic supervision.

A$37,145 per year living stipend (2026 rate), fortnightly payments, potential A$2,000 overseas relocation allowance, potential A$1,000 interstate relocation allowance, possible separate tuition scholarship and Overseas Student Health Cover when awarded additionally.

Open to domestic and international applicants seeking to undertake a Research Doctorate (PhD) or Research Master’s degree at Monash University; applicants must select a research area supported by Monash and identify appropriate supervisory expertise.
