Tongarewa Scholarship

The Tongarewa Scholarship is a funded scholarship programme at Victoria University of Wellington for international students pursuing Masters or PhD degrees, with separate awards for undergraduates. It covers tuition and provides stipends, with a multi-tier award structure including NZ$10,000 for some bachelor and master candidates, NZ$5,000 for some master candidates, and substantial PhD stipends plus tuition coverage. The scholarship cycle appears annually for the academic year 2027-2028 and is open to applicants from all nationalities who intend to enroll at Victoria University of Wellington.

NZ$10,000 scholarships for undergrad and master’s degree students; NZ$5,000 scholarships for master’s degree students; 110 PhD awards with a NZ$27,500 annual stipend plus tuition fees.

Applicants from any nationality who are paying full fee and are in their first year of an undergraduate program or are entering a postgraduate degree program.
