FSJ with the German Red Cross (DRK)

The Freiwilliges Soziales Jahr (FSJ) with the German Red Cross is a long-term volunteer program in Germany that provides structured service opportunities, practical training, and educational components. It is a fully funded year-long placement for young people to work in social services such as elder care, support for people with disabilities, or childcare, while receiving housing, a stipend, and health insurance. Participants gain professional supervision, develop teamwork and interpersonal skills, and earn an official certificate upon successful completion.

Citizens of all nationalities are eligible, including international students outside the EU; typically aged 18 to 27.
