CANEX Shorts Competition 2025 for Young Filmmakers in Africa

CANEX Shorts 2025 is a short film competition organised by Afreximbank through its Creative Africa Nexus programme (CANEX). It targets young filmmakers in Africa and the Diaspora and will culminate in screenings and an award ceremony at CANEX at IATF2025 in Algiers, with a prize allocation and travel for winners. The event includes opportunities to showcase work, network with industry professionals, and gain international exposure during CANEX at IATF2025.

Cash prize, screening of the film at CANEX at IATF2025 in Algiers, invitation to CANEX at IATF2025 (flights and accommodation provided), networking opportunities with investors and industry professionals, global recognition.

Open to Africans living on the continent and in the diaspora. Filmmakers must be between 18 and 35 years old, and the film must have been made in 2023 or after.
