Branco Weiss Postdoctoral Fellowship 2027 with Funding of up to CHF 600,000

The Branco Weiss Fellowship – Society in Science is a highly funded postdoctoral fellowship program administered by ETH Zurich. It supports outstanding researchers pursuing innovative and unconventional projects across disciplines, with up to five years of funding and strong emphasis on interdisciplinary and socially relevant work. Up to ten fellows are selected each year to conduct research at host institutions of their choice, within the Greater Zurich area or affiliated organizations.

Funding up to CHF 600,000 for up to five years; coverage of research equipment and laboratory costs; coverage of travel expenses; funding for research materials and supplies; possibility to hire staff or research assistants; membership in an international multidisciplinary network; potential to pursue an academic position after the first year.

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree by January 15, 2027 (defense by that date is acceptable) and PhD must have been awarded no more than five years earlier. Applicants currently holding a faculty-equivalent position are ineligible. The fellowship is open to researchers of all nationalities and across all disciplines, who propose an innovative, interdisciplinary project and are willing to engage in dialogue addressing social, cultural, political, or economic issues.
