Information

The Junior Mechanical Engineer is a paid, time-limited engineering position within CERN's Mechanics, Development and Design (MDD) section to design and develop mechanical and electromechanical systems for the accelerator complex. The role involves producing 3D models, manufacturing drawings and BOMs, supporting manufacturing, assembly, testing and installation, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. The position is suited to recent graduates with up to two years' professional experience and offers training, social benefits and the possibility to extend the contract up to 36 months.

Benefits

Monthly net stipend (5266-5793 CHF), 30 days paid leave + 2 weeks closure, health insurance for self/spouse/children, CERN Pension Fund membership, family/child allowances, relocation package, on-the-job and formal training including language classes.

Eligibility

Applicants must be nationals of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State (with some nationalities excluded due to quota). By the application deadline they must have a maximum of two years professional experience since graduation, hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree (not a PhD), and must never have had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
