Information

The African Fact-Checking Awards is an awards programme honouring fact-checking journalism by the media in Africa, with three categories and monetary prizes for winners and runners-up. It recognises original, Africa-relevant fact-checking work published or broadcast between 1 May 2024 and 7 June 2025.

Benefits

Prize money: US$3,000 for the working journalist and professional fact-checker winners, US$1,500 for runners-up; US$2,000 for the student journalist winner and US$1,000 for the runner-up.

Eligibility

Entries must be the original work of the individual or team identified in the entry form, exposing a claim relevant to Africa as misleading or wrong, and first published or broadcast within 1 May 2024 to 7 June 2025.
