MPIWG Fellowship Program

Fellowship Fully funded 5 days left
Max Planck Institute for the History of Science (MPIWG) Berlin, Germany 2026

Information

The MPIWG Fellowship Program awards a limited number of stipended fellowships to guest scholars to contribute to one of the Institute’s departments or research groups and to use the Institute’s library and facilities. Fellowships are cohort-style research stays (typically three to six months) for Postdoctoral Fellows and Research Fellows and invite recipients to participate in the Institute’s academic life, seminars and events. Funding and stipends are provided by departments and research groups according to Max Planck Society rules, and fellows receive institutional support such as co-working spaces and assistance for research visits and conference participation.

Benefits

Monthly stipend as stated above; co-working spaces; support for research visits to archives and libraries; support to participate in conferences and specialist forums; participation in Institute lectures, seminars and workshops.

Eligibility

Scholars worldwide may apply; Postdoctoral Fellowships require a defended PhD (the certificate can be submitted later if application is successful). Research Fellowships are aimed at more advanced scholars (e.g. those holding a PhD and an academic position). Applications must be made for a particular department or research group.

Application

Apply electronically in German or English through the MPIWG application portal for a specific department or research group; applications are evaluated after the deadline and considered by a stipend committee.
