International Visegrad Fund Worldwide 2026

Information

The Western Balkans–Visegrad Fellowships offer short-term research and teaching stays of 2–10 weeks between institutions in the Visegrad Group (Czechia, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia) and the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia). The fellowships fund individual scholars, lecturers, academic staff, researchers and scientists who are full-time doctoral students or holders of a doctoral degree to conduct research, hold lectures or seminars, or use archives and libraries. The programme is jointly funded by the International Visegrad Fund and the Western Balkans Fund.

Benefits

Lump sum scholarship €500/week (paid in two instalments); optional travel grant up to €500.

Eligibility

Applicants must be full-time doctoral students or holders of a doctoral degree. V4 citizens may apply to host institutions in the WB6 region; WB6 citizens may apply to host institutions in the V4 region.

Application

Apply via the Visegrad Fund application portal; submit scanned ID (passport), doctoral diploma or proof of enrollment, an English letter of invitation from the host institution, and an English letter of recommendation from the applicant's home institution or relevant expert.
