Information

The Airalzh Grants for Young Researchers (AGYR) 2026 is a competitive funding programme supporting basic and clinical research projects on early stages of Alzheimer’s disease and prevention. Projects must focus on early disease phases, diagnostic markers, pharmacological targets, new technological approaches, or lifestyle-related prevention. Grants fund projects for up to two years with a maximum award of €60,000 per project. No more than one proposal per department will be funded.

Eligibility

The proposing Principal Investigator must be aged 40 or under at the call closure (extensions allowed for certified career interruptions), hold a PhD or Medical Specialization, have at least 3 publications in the last 5 years (published or accepted) including at least one as first or last author. A co-PI may be included and must meet the same eligibility criteria. Each PI or co-PI may submit only one proposal.

Application

Two-stage submission: submit first application documents (pre-proposal) by 1 April 2026 17:00; successful applicants will be invited to submit the full proposal by 1 July 2026 17:00 on the Airalzh site. Internal applicants must send project budget, host institution letter and department authorization to Grant Office Life Sciences (officina.ls@unimi.it) by 20 March 2026.
