MISTI Mexico (MIT International Science and Technology Initiatives)

MISTI Mexico places MIT students in internships, research positions, and Global Teaching Labs with companies, universities, non-profits and research institutes across Mexico. Opportunities include 8-12 week summer internships (and placements up to 12 months), and IAP teaching placements delivering STEM instruction at Mexican high schools and universities. The program provides logistical support, local housing arrangements, and financial assistance such as stipends, travel reimbursement and insurance for selected participants.

Stipend for living expenses, food and local transport; travel health and liability insurance; flight coverage or reimbursement; housing assistance (host family, shared apartment, or school residence).

Open to all MIT undergraduate and MEng students (including graduating students for the summer after senior year); graduate students may be considered in limited cases. Undergraduates require Spanish IV or equivalent proficiency; graduate students have no language requirement though basic Spanish is strongly recommended. Minimum GPA: 4.0.
