Amigos de las Américas Summer Abroad Volunteer Program

The Amigos de las Américas Summer Abroad Volunteer Program is a 6–8 week service-learning program that places high school and college students in community service projects across multiple Latin American countries. Participants receive training and work with host communities and partner agencies on public service priorities such as community health, nutrition, environmental conservation and youth leadership. The program emphasizes immersive cultural exchange and collaborative development work in countries including Mexico, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and Paraguay.

Extensive pre-program training, immersive community service experience, work on public service projects (community health, nutrition, environmental conservation, youth leadership), and cross-cultural leadership development.

High school and college students; described as for teenagers and young adults from diverse backgrounds.
