Discover Engineering

Discover Engineering is a USC Pre-College summer course that gives high school students a preview of studying engineering at the college level. Participants study multiple engineering disciplines through lectures, hands-on projects and field trips around Los Angeles. The program includes team-based design projects, use of simulation and prototyping tools, and writing a research paper on an engineering concept. Students may earn college credit for completing the course.

College credit; hands-on engineering projects and prototyping experience; field trips to engineering sites; opportunities to write a research paper and present project work.

High school students; applicants who will not have completed pre-calculus or trigonometry before June 15, 2026, must submit a Pre-Calc/Trig Waiver with their application.
