AMS Fellows

The AMS Fellows is an honorific program recognizing mathematicians distinguished for their contributions to the profession. New Fellows are selected annually from among nominated AMS members, with a target number set as 0.35% of the three-year trailing average of paying members. Fellows are expected to take part in the election of new Fellows, serve as a public face of excellence in mathematics, and advise the Society's leadership when requested. Election may be revoked for serious abrogations of these responsibilities.

Recognition as an AMS Fellow; ability to take part in the election of new Fellows; role as a public representative of excellence in mathematics; advisory role to AMS leadership (when requested).

To be eligible for nomination an individual must be an AMS member for the year in which they are nominated (2026) and have been a member for the prior three years as of July 31 of each year (2025, 2024, 2023).

Nominations are submitted via the AMS nomination form during the annual nomination window (link provided on AMS site).
