Fahri Doktora (Honorary Doctorate)

The Fahri Doktora is an honorary doctorate awarded to living persons who have made distinguished services and contributions to the development of science, technology, arts, sports, culture or social life and who align with the core values of Boğaziçi University. Academic candidates with established ties to Boğaziçi University are given preference. The title recognises significant and widespread contributions in the recipient's field.

Award of the honorary doctorate (Fahri Doktora) title

Living persons who have made distinguished services and contributions in science, technology, arts, sports, culture or social life; academic candidates with ties to Boğaziçi University are preferred.

Faculty members may propose candidates; a reasoned proposal is submitted to the relevant dean/directorate committee, which evaluates and forwards its recommendation. The Rector refers proposals to the Permanent Commission; the Commission reviews and reports to the Rector, who then presents the recommendations to the University Senate for final decision.
