Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft (DPG) Germany 2026

Information

The DPG-Abiturpreis recognises outstanding performance in the subject of physics by graduating secondary-school students in Germany. Recipients receive a certificate and a one-year complimentary membership in the Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft (DPG). In cases of exceptional achievement in physics, selected recipients additionally receive a DPG book prize. The awards are typically presented during the schools' Abitur graduation ceremonies.

Eligibility

Secondary-school students (Abiturientinnen and Abiturienten) in Germany who have demonstrated special achievement in the school subject physics; nomination is made by the school's physics teachers.

Application

Nomination by the school's physics teacher via the DPG online submission form (form available from February); schools should submit laureate data (name, date of Abitur ceremony) at least two weeks before the ceremony.
