The Max-Born Prize and Medal is an award presented for outstanding contributions to physics and is jointly administered by the Institute of Physics (IOP) and the Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft (DPG). The award alternates between physicists based in Germany and those based in the UK or Ireland. The prize includes a silver medal, a certificate, and prize money of €3000 provided by the hosting society. Travel and lodging for the prize winner, a guest and a representative are the responsibility of the nominating society.

Eligibility

Physicists living and working in the nominating country. The award is made in alternating years to nominees based in Germany (even years) or in the UK or Ireland (odd years).

Application

Candidates are nominated by the nominating society which submits two or three names plus citations to the other society; the DPG publishes calls for proposals every two years and sets submission deadlines.
