The Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) awarded doctoral research fellowships in 2025 as part of the Concurso para Atribuição de Bolsas de Investigação para Doutoramento. The contest had 4,169 applications and 1,553 new fellowships were allocated across two lines: Geral and Ambiente Não Académico. The program is funded by state budget resources and, where eligible, European Social Fund revenues, and it supports doctoral research in Portugal and abroad through contracting institutions.
