UNESCO-Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable Development 2025

The UNESCO-Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable Development recognizes exemplary projects or programmes in education for sustainable development (ESD) undertaken by institutions, organizations or other entities. The prize highlights innovative and transformative ESD efforts that integrate social, economic and environmental dimensions. Three laureates receive an award of US $50,000 each, acknowledging the impact of their ESD work.

Institutions, organizations or other entities engaged in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) can be nominated for a specific ESD project or programme.

Nominations are submitted by governments via Permanent Delegations to UNESCO or by NGOs in official partnership with UNESCO.
