Information

The Building Communities through Arts and Heritage program provides funding to support local festivals, community anniversary events, and legacy capital projects that celebrate local history, culture and the work of local artists and cultural carriers. It comprises three components: Local Festivals, Community Anniversaries, and the Legacy Fund. Eligible activities include recurring festivals, non‑recurring anniversary commemorations (including minor capital projects), and community-initiated capital projects to restore, renovate or transform existing buildings or exterior spaces for community use. Certain commemorative items and capital projects are eligible for funding up to a specified maximum.

Benefits

Financial contributions for festivals, anniversary events, and community capital projects; funding up to a maximum of $25,000 for eligible commemorative items and capital projects.

Eligibility

Local groups, and involvement of local artists, local artisans, local heritage performers or specialists, and local First Nations, Inuit, and Métis cultural carriers are eligible; Community Anniversaries and Legacy Fund components require commemorations of 100 years or greater in increments of 25 years for certain projects.
