Sport Support Program

Grant
Department of Canadian Heritage Canada 2026

Information

The Sport Support Program provides funding to support the development of the Canadian sport system. It comprises several components that fund eligible national sport organizations, multisport services organizations, Canadian sport centres and community initiatives. A dedicated component, Sport for Social Development in Indigenous Communities (SSDIC), offers three streams of funding for Indigenous sport projects. The program aims to remove barriers and increase sport participation for under‑represented groups and to support sport development programming across Canada.

Benefits

Financial support for organizations to deliver sport development programming and community sport initiatives, including projects under the SSDIC streams.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants vary by component and include national sport organizations, national multisport services organizations, Canadian sport centres, Provincial/Territorial Aboriginal Sport Bodies (PTASBs), the Aboriginal Sport Circle, Indigenous governments, Indigenous communities and other not-for-profit Indigenous organizations; some streams are reserved for specific applicant types.

Application

Organizations apply for funding through the program's components and, for SSDIC, through its three specified streams.
