The IMF Youth Challenge in Economics 2025 is a competition for postgraduate economics students to showcase their research on macroeconomic policy topics relevant to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Three winning students will be invited to participate in a research conference in Egypt in May 2025, with travel reimbursement, hotel accommodations, and incidental expenses provided by the IMF, plus an invitation letter for visa purposes.

Eligibility

Open to postgraduate students who have completed an undergraduate degree and are currently enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program in economics or a related field; participants must be citizens of a MENA country and enrolled at an institution of higher education worldwide.

Application

Submit a 3-page research summary, a registrar’s certificate, and a professor’s recommendation letter; submissions must be in PDF and include the participant’s name, university, and contact information.
