Bolsas Gulbenkian PALOP 2026

The Bolsas Gulbenkian PALOP 2026 are master’s scholarships for nationals of the Portuguese-speaking African countries (PALOP) to undertake a taught, in-person master’s degree in Portugal. The scholarships target scientific fields (mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology) and support candidates in the first year of a master’s programme at a Portuguese higher education institution. Awards are cohort-based, limited in number (up to 22 scholarships) and have a maximum duration of 24 months.

Monthly stipend (€1,150), one-time installation grant (€1,150), tuition support up to €4,000/year, travel allowance (amounts vary by country), and travel accident insurance.

Nationals of Angola, Cabo Verde, Guiné-Bissau, Moçambique or São Tomé and Príncipe with permanent residence in their country of origin, a completed bachelor’s degree from a PALOP higher education institution, a minimum final grade of 14/20, age under 30 (born 1996 or later), and who intend to start the first year of a presencial master’s in Portugal in an eligible scientific area.

Applicants must provide proof of candidature or enrollment in a Portuguese master’s programme and letters of recommendation as required.
