Workshop de Cobertura Jornalística sobre Ciência Oceânica e Exploração do Fundo do Mar

A workshop in-person for journalists in Brazil focused on reporting about deep-sea science, seabed exploration and marine biodiversity. Selected participants will attend sessions with experienced journalists, marine scientists and other experts, take part in a field visit including the Schmidt Ocean Institute research vessel, and receive training on communicating ocean science to the public and decision-makers. The workshop takes place in Fortaleza with preparatory virtual orientation ahead of the in-person activities.

Travel to Fortaleza, accommodation, meals, travel medical insurance, local transportation, a field visit to the Schmidt Ocean Institute research vessel, preparatory virtual orientation and in-person training sessions with experts.

Professional journalists linked to or representing an established media outlet, or journalistic content creators/influencers with an active presence on one or more major social media platforms; experience reporting on environmental topics (preferably ocean coverage); availability on the workshop dates; proficiency in Portuguese; able to undertake moderate physical activity including boarding and travelling by ship.
