Information

The Hanna H. Gray Fellows Program supports postdoctoral scientists who show exceptional promise as future research leaders and equips them to pursue independent faculty careers. Fellows receive up to two years of salary or stipend support, additional funds to cover certain fellowship-related expenses, and tailored professional development including career-transition advising and workshops. Fellows who obtain a qualifying tenure-track or equivalent faculty position may be appointed as Freeman Hrabowski Scholars.

Eligibility

Applicants must hold a PhD and/or MD (or equivalent), have no more than seven years of postdoctoral training experience by 2026-12-15, conduct research in the basic biological and biomedical sciences supported by HHMI, be in (or be scheduled to enter) a mentored postdoctoral research position at an HHMI-eligible institution, intend to begin a first independent tenure-track (or equivalent) faculty position at an HHMI-eligible institution by 2030-05-01, and be authorized to work in the US or eligible to obtain work authorization for the appointment duration.

Application

Applications are submitted through HHMI’s Application and Review Channel (ARC); the ARC portal opens November 3, 2026 for the 2028 competition.
