Information

The Berlin Mathematical School (BMS) scholarships support admission to BMS Phase I (Master’s preparatory phase) and Phase II (doctoral research) in mathematics. BMS is a joint graduate school of Humboldt University, Freie Universität Berlin, and Technische Universität Berlin, offering tuition-free study, funded PhD positions and scholarships. Programs are taught in English and cover areas across pure and applied mathematics, mathematical physics, probability and statistics, and data science-related modeling. Successful applicants receive supervision by research-active faculty and access to the Berlin research environment and partner institutes.

Eligibility

Open to all nationalities. Phase I applicants should complete a Bachelor’s degree by summer of the current year and have a strong mathematics background. Phase II applicants should hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent), have a strong research profile and references, and alignment with BMS faculty research interests; Phase II admission depends on secured funding for at least three years.

Apply through the BMS Online Application Portal; select Phase I or Phase II and submit transcripts, CV, motivation letter and references; Phase II applications are forwarded to potential supervisors and require secured funding before final admission
