Information

The University of Michigan African Presidential Scholars Program (UMAPS) is a fellowship for early-career African university faculty. It provides a residence period at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor with a faculty mentor, access to resources, and a stipend to support research and collaboration. Selected scholars receive housing, medical insurance, a research allowance, a living stipend, round-trip airfare, and office/lab space for a multi-month residency to advance their ongoing research or scholarly activities.

Eligibility

Early-career university faculty from Africa with less than ten years of higher-education teaching experience, currently employed at an African university, and able to reside in the U.S. for five months. Prior international experience outside Africa is not required but preference is given to those with less international exposure.
