The ESO Astronomy Fellowship Programme supports early-career researchers in astronomy, physics and related fields to develop an independent research programme while contributing to ESO activities. Fellowships are available at ESO Headquarters in Germany or at ESO’s astronomy centre in Chile, with multi-year durations and competitive salary and benefits. The programme aims to strengthen participants’ scientific profiles and prepare them for the next stage of their research careers.

Eligibility
Open to applicants internationally. Applicants must have obtained, or expect to obtain, a PhD in astronomy, physics or a related discipline before 1 November 2027.
