Desmond Tutu Health Foundation PhD Scholarship

The Desmond Tutu Health Foundation PhD Scholarship is a fully funded doctoral programme hosted in partnership with the University of Cape Town. It supports two PhD students pursuing structured, application‑oriented health research embedded within active global health programmes, with mentorship and research training components. The scholarship provides funding for up to four years, including tuition and living costs.

R315,000 per year for up to four years, plus mentorship and research training within multidisciplinary global health teams.

Applicants must hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline and be a South African citizen or permanent resident; must meet UCT PhD registration requirements and demonstrate experience in data analysis.
