Swiss Confederation Excellence Scholarship for Foreign Researchers (University of Fribourg)

The Swiss Confederation Excellence Scholarship supports qualified foreign researchers to undertake a fixed 12-month doctoral or postdoctoral research stay at the University of Fribourg. The programme aims to promote international academic exchange and scientific cooperation between Switzerland and partner countries. Awards provide a monthly allowance, a housing deposit grant, health insurance coverage for non-EU/EFTA nationals, and transport concessions, along with access to university welcome activities.

Monthly stipend (2,450 CHF for PhD / 3,500 CHF for postdoc), 300 CHF housing deposit, mandatory health insurance coverage for non-EU/EFTA nationals, Swiss half-fare public transport subscription, access to university welcome activities.

Candidates must hold a Master's degree (for doctoral research) or a Doctorate (for postdoctoral research), must never have previously received a Swiss Confederation scholarship, must obtain a formal letter of acceptance from a supervising professor at the University of Fribourg, and postdoctoral supervisors must not have supervised the applicant's doctoral thesis.

Identify and obtain written acceptance from a supervising professor at the University of Fribourg; prepare a research project and required documents; submit the complete application file to the Swiss diplomatic representation in the applicant's country; files are evaluated by the Federal Commission for Scholarships.
