The Eleanor Taylor Bland Crime Fiction Writers of Color Award is a grant awarded to a crime fiction writer to support writing and career development activities. The grantee may use the funds for activities such as workshops, seminars, conferences, retreats, online courses, and research needed to complete their work. The grant is administered by Sisters in Crime, an international organization of mystery writers, readers, publishers, agents, booksellers and librarians. A grant of $2,000 is awarded to the selected winner.

Eligibility

Applicants must submit an unpublished crime fiction work (2,500 to 5,000 words); AI-generated works are not eligible; having published two novels or ten or more short stories makes you ineligible.

Submit three components: an unpublished crime fiction work (2,500–5,000 words), a resume or biographical statement, and a cover letter describing the applicant as an emerging writer.
