The PhD positions are hosted by the Niu Lab at New Mexico State University and involve research at the intersection of artificial intelligence and agricultural applications. Selected PhD students will conduct research in AI, machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, robotics and agriculture under Dr. Haoyu Niu, with an interdisciplinary environment and collaboration across NMSU units and external partners. The anticipated start is Spring or Fall 2027, depending on the position and successful applicant, with multiple forms of financial and academic support including a stipend, tuition coverage, health insurance and conference travel support.

Eligibility

Applicants should hold a B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a closely related field, and have research interest in AI-related areas such as computer vision, multimodal sensing, robotics, autonomous systems or digital twins.
